Your pool filtration system is losing flow: what to check

Swimming pool circulation pump and pipework

If less water is returning to your pool, describe the change before deciding which part to replace. Reduced flow can have different causes and does not by itself prove the pump has failed. Jara offers filtration system inspections and pump repair or replacement.

What may cause low flow

Obstructions in circulation or baskets and problems with the pump are among the possible causes. These are points for an inspection, not a conclusion that applies to every installation.

The technician needs to assess the system as a whole. Do not choose a replacement pump or filter simply because you have noticed less movement at the return inlets.

What to observe without dismantling equipment

  • When the reduction began and whether it is constant or intermittent.
  • Whether it coincided with cleaning, work on the system or a change in operation.
  • Any new noises, visible leaks or equipment alerts.
  • The pump and filter models, if their references are accessible.

Record the information or prepare photographs of the equipment exterior. Do not open a pressurised filter or handle electrical components; any work must follow the manual and manufacturer’s safety requirements.

Repair, replacement or another component check

Jara’s services include pump repair and replacement, filter component repair or replacement and detailed filtration system inspections. Requesting an assessment allows the proposed work and price to be specified before assuming complete replacement is needed.

If your enquiry also concerns filter media, read how to assess a sand or glass change. These decisions relate to the installation, but changing media should not be assumed to solve low flow automatically.

Describe the water condition too

If there is also green pool water, include both issues in the enquiry. Describing them together helps plan an inspection of water and equipment, rather than treating each symptom separately.

For a pool in Gavà, Castelldefels or Viladecans, tell Jara the location, dimensions and symptoms observed. Once the issue has been addressed, ask about regular maintenance if you need ongoing care. The assessment should specify the work; no immediate repair or outcome is promised without examining the equipment.
